StoneFish
Paul - Vocals and Guitar, John - Guitar, Ross - Bass, Barry - Drums
Joined StoneFish after answering
an ad in the paper. Turned out that Paul and I had met in a previous life when
he had done a couple of gigs with Easy, prior to us finding Mike. Sounded an
interesting mix of styles so gave it a go.... Hendrix, Cream, UFO, Alex Harvey,
along with some standard classics. Ran with it for about 6 months then got the
following text message....
“Hi Barry. We have listened 2 the recordings & spoken in great depths about the
band as a whole. We have decided that we need2 make essential changes 2 make the
band work & survive as a pro unit. We have spoken to Paul & have told him about
our decisions 2 which he has agreed. We are going 2 have 2 let U go as we feel
the root core lies with the standard and quality of the drumming. We have made a
replacement and hope that u understand that this is nothing personal. We wish u
luck in future ventures. John”
Nice, eh!
Bizarre really, as my copy of that rehearsal cd was full of guitar f*ckups! I
think, bottom line, I didn't really fit in. John had an agenda and it wasn't the
same as mine. Wasn't a great disappointment though, as we were rehearsing week
in, week out and there seemed no urgency to gig. By this time, YOUFO were
getting close to gigging and I was probably going to struggle to divide my time
anyway.
